I am just returning to training after a one-month hiatus in which I moved.
I'm finding it harder than I would like due to the weather, I'm having
to find other options besides riding my bike. I try to keep a ratio of
1 running day to each 2 I ride so that I balance my quads and hamstrings.
Since the weather has been poor, I find myself at the gym on the elliptical
trainer more than either of those, especially since my department just
bought a new one for each fire house. The best thing about riding my bike
is that there is no problem going off and doing it for an hour or two
without losing interest. This certainly helps keep my endurance up. The
bad thing about my move is that I can no longer ride to my gym, work out,
then ride home due to traffic concerns.
My dietary habits are what I need to work on most, since I cheat a little
too often, but my move seems to have been good where that's concerned...I've
seen the quality of my diet rise recently without any real effort. Now
if I can get the guys at work on track. Actually, dinner is usually pretty
decent, breakfast is a problem. I'm not currently supplementing at all,
plan to start taking a high quality multivitamin again tomorrow. I've
tried some of the basic supplements, but I really need to focus more on
the basics atm.
