WHY DO WE NEED YOUR HELP?
"Fabulous 54 Fundraiser for Pam Jones and Juliet Draper”
There is a gap in health care coverage for families of city employees, and that is the reason for a fabulous and informative fundraiser for Pam Jones, Saturday, February 2, 2008 from 4-6pm at the Pride Center of Colorado Springs.
Pam Jones has been Colorado Springs’ firefighter Juliet Draper’s partner for 16 years, and now she is struggling with the system.
In 2003, Draper received City domestic partnership benefits that allowed Jones to be covered on her health plan. Logically, Jones cancelled her private insurance to participate. That safety net lasted just one year because the benefit was revoked.
Jones then reapplied for private coverage and learned that a breast cyst treatment from 1990 created a permanent exclusion for breast benefits. Unfortunately, an expensive lumpectomy procedure was needed in 2007. Now, the Colorado Springs firefighter and her dedicated partner are in need of some community support.
THE GOOD NEWS. Jones discovered a state sponsored FREE mammogram and Pap smear screening for El Paso uninsured, underinsured and underserved women. She’s on a mission to help other women get this service.
The Pride Center of Colorado Springs is hosting this fun occasion to promote women’s health and encourage equal benefits for ALL families.
All donations of checks, cash and Paypal deposits to the "Gotcha Covered Fund” will help defray Pam’s health expenses—and help continue her community outreach to underserved women.
